Creating an Estimate
Estimates allow you to provide customers with an approximate cost for work before the final price is confirmed. They are ideal for early-stage discussions where the scope or materials may still change.
In JiffyTrade™, estimates can later be converted into Quotes or Invoices, saving time and preventing the need to recreate documents manually.
Creating a New Estimate
- Open My Business → Documents from the WordPress dashboard.
- Click Create Document.
- Select Estimate as the document type.
- Choose an existing customer or create a new one.
- Add the items or services for the job.
- Review the Estimated Total.
- Click Save or Export PDF.
Your estimate is now stored in the Document History where it can be edited, exported, or converted later.
Converting an Estimate
Once work is approved, estimates can be converted without recreating the document.
From the document history page:
- Click Convert to Quote to confirm a fixed price.
- Click Convert to Invoice to bill the customer.
The new document will automatically copy all details from the original estimate.
When Should You Use an Estimate?
Estimates are useful when:
- The final cost may change
- Materials or labour are not fully confirmed
- You want to give the customer a rough price before committing
Once pricing is confirmed, the estimate can be converted into a Quote or Invoice.
Tip
Estimates, Quotes, and Invoices share the same document layout in JiffyTrade™. This means you can easily move between stages of a job without recreating the document from scratch.
