Managing Customers
Customers are central to how documents function in JiffyTrade.
Every Quote and Invoice must be linked to a customer record.
Customer data is stored centrally and can be reused across multiple documents.

🔄 Customer Sync Behaviour (Important)
Customer data is linked dynamically inside the Document Designer.
When creating a Quote or Invoice:
- Selecting a customer pre-fills their details
- Editing those details and saving will update the stored customer record
If details differ, you will see a sync warning:
Customer details don’t match the saved record!
Saving this document will update the selected customer in the database.
You may choose:
Re-sync current customer data
to restore the saved version instead.
🗑️ Deleting a Customer
Deleting a customer:
- Removes them from the customer list
- Does NOT remove historical documents
- Documents retain their stored snapshot data
However, deleting customers is generally not recommended if they have associated documents.
For audit safety:
✔ Keep historical customer records
✔ Avoid deleting customers with financial history
🔎 Searching & Managing Customers
You can:
- Search by name
- Filter customers
- Quickly access edit options
This makes it easy to maintain clean client records.
🔐 Best Practice for Customer Data
✔ Keep contact details updated
✔ Use TAX Exempt correctly for accurate calculations
✔ Avoid overwriting customer details unintentionally
✔ Review sync warnings carefully before saving
Because customer data can auto-update from documents, always confirm changes before saving.
